26-year-old Jake Johnson, of no fixed address, and 32-year-old Matthew Bibb, of Slingfield Road, Birmingham were sentenced to 11 years behind bars at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday after they both pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault by penetration.

Johnson and Bibb were staying at a hotel on Kings Street, Hammersmith on November 12, 2018. In the early hours, they walked to a nearby 24-hour shop to buy alcohol, this is where they encountered their homeless victim.

The two men offered the women to get out of the wet weather and to come with them to their hotel to "warm up and have a hot drink."

It was back at the hotel room when Johnson and Bibb subjected the woman to a violent and prolonged sexual assault before throwing her out.

The traumatised woman fled and reported the incident to her friends and the manager of the hotel, who assisted in detaining the two men.

Both Johnson and Bibb initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, but changed their pleas to guilty on the third day of the trial - both men were sentenced the same day.

Detective Constable Carrina Turner said: "Bibb and Johnson subjected the victim - a clearly vulnerable woman - to horrific, humiliating, and degrading sexual abuse. They are exactly those predatory and violent sexual offenders who we are committed to taking off our streets.

"I would like to commend the victim for her bravery and composure throughout this lengthy investigation. I know that she is understandably still suffering from the long-term effects of such a terrifying ordeal, but hope she can take some comfort in this result and the knowledge her actions have potentially prevented further offences".
