South Park is set to make a return to our screens with new mega deal

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have signed a new mega-deal worth $900m to create new episodes as well as new movies for the Comedy Central Network.

The famous cartoon creates are also set to create more than a dozen spinoff movies for Viacom's Paramount+ streaming service.

The first new South Park film is scheduled to be released later on in 2021.

The huge media deal, which is set to run to the end of 2027, includes six brand new seasons of the South Park TV show and 14 movies.

Chris McCarthy of MTV Entertainment and Paramount+ said "Matt and Trey are world-class creatives who brilliantly use their outrageous humour to skewer the absurdities of our culture and we are excited to expand and deepen our long relationship with them to help fuel Paramount+ and Comedy Central."

In typical Parker and Stone fashion, they have made light of the recent developments, stating the deal would last a lot longer than officially agreed: "Comedy Central has been our home for 25 years and we're really happy that they've made a commitment to us for the next 65 years."

South Park made its debut on the big screen all the way back in 1997, based around the exploits of the four boys from South Park - Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman and Kenny McCormick.

South Park quickly shot to fame for its strong language and controversial and dark humour that often shocked and even divided the viewers whilst satirising a broad range of adult issues.

So far, there have been more than 300 episodes of South Park and even a movie that was released back in 1999.

We are genuinely huge South Park fans and we are delighted to be announcing this news today!
