Russian Police Colonel Dies During Dental Surgery Resulting In A Criminal Case Being Opened
A Russian police colonel undergoing dental surgery worth half a million roubles has died during the procedure. Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case in relation to the incident.
Russian Police Colonel Pavel Kolesnikov was head of the Centre for Technical Regulation and Cataloguing at the Russian Interior Ministry's Spets-Tekhnika i Svyaz (Special Machinery and Communications) NGO.
The incident in which Kolesnikov reportedly died took place at the Extrodent Centre dental clinic in Pushkino, near Moscow, when the colonel was undergoing dental treatment on June 24.
The Russian Police Colonel, 49, was due to have a long and expensive operation under general anesthetic for two fillings and six implants, the procedure was reportedly costing around 500,000 roubles.
Kolesnikov supposedly underwent several tests before doctors would approve him for the treatment.
During the surgery, Kolesnikov apparently became ill and was taken to the intensive care unit of the Pushkin hospital where he died shortly afterwards.
Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over the death claiming that it was "death by negligence."
