Anunnaki: The story of the Sumerians and the ancient alien Gods of Mesopotamia
If asked to name an ancient civilisation many names may roll off the tongue, however the great ancient civilisation of of the Sumerians is often overlooked or simply many people have never even heard of them.
Ancient Sumer was a collection of city-states situated in Mesopotamia, a historical region of Western Asia situated within the Tigris–Euphrates river system, in the northern part of the Fertile Crescent. It occupies the area of present-day Iraq, and parts of Iran, Turkey, Syria and Kuwait.
The Sumerians were extremely ahead for their time, boasting an advanced military and exceptional writing and mathematic skills. Many of the writings that they left detail about the Sumerian Culture. The name "Sumer" translates to "land of civilised kings". The Sumerian civilisation existed from 4100 BCE until approximately 1750 BCE. The Sumerians were one of the first groups that came up with the idea of dividing time into hours and minutes.
They where a highly religious group, their religion however, was extremely complex and involved gods named the Anunnaki.
The Sumerians believed that the Anunnaki were in charge of their fates, there are many myths showing that the Anunnaki passed judgment on humans.
The Anunnaki or gods were described as children of the Earth and sky, this is where it gets more interesting and conflicting view points start to show, many people put the stories down to mythology, similar to the gods of other civilisations, many however, believe there is a much deeper side to the story.
There is a strong following now, including many reputable researchers who believe the Anunnaki may have actually been some form of beings from outer space.
It is a popular theory that the Anunnaki where indeed beings and that they had travelled to Earth from the mysterious Planet X, which is said to have passed close to Earth thousands of years ago.
Believers of this theory say that the Anunnaki came to Earth and forced the Sumerians to work for them, specifically mining gold, it is said they the Anunnaki left Earth and returned to Planet X once they had everything they needed from our planet.
Depending on who you speak to, which theory you follow and how deeply you go into the subject of the Anunnaki, many people believe they were in fact of a species of reptilian humanoids who helped the Sumerians develop their mathematics, problem solving and writing abilities.
Many ancient drawings and carvings from the times of the Sumerians show the people with their Gods and what often appears to be round flying discs in the sky, laying stronger ground for the theory that the Anunnaki did in fact come from the sky.
There are a lot of people who believe extremely strongly in the theory of the Anunnaki, even believing that the reptiles are still around today living amongst us, often in positions of immense power within the human world, with many world leaders and global figures being accused of being a reptilian humanoid. Whether you believe that we have ancient aliens walking amongst us or not, there is no denying that the story is somewhat fascinating to even the non believers and still captures the imaginations of people today.
