Amazing Photos Show The Bond Between The Human Keepers And The Orphaned Elephants They Care For

These beautiful photos taken at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya show the love that is shown between the elephants and the carers that look after them whilst they are exploring their surroundings.
These stunning photos were taken at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, the images show the lengths that the human carers go to and the trust that these orphaned elephants have in them whilst they explore their new home.
The keepers who work for the trust replicate the family structure that these elephants lost when they were orphaned, this process is vital for them to thrive until they are old enough to be reintegrated back into the wild.
Executive Director of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Rob Brandford said, "It will be many years before these orphans will be independent of their keepers, after all, they are still babies, needing their milk, guidance, teaching, and mentorship before they are ready to 'fly the nest' which usually occurs when orphans are around the age of ten."
"In the meantime, they are positioned in a beautiful place where their days can be filled with important interactions with wild herds."
The next image shows the love between two orphaned calves and says a lot about the tenderness of these majestic animals.
Rob also said, "As sensitive and active creatures, elephants are very touchy-feely. They use physical contact to communicate and bond with one another and you'll often see them 'chatting' by purposefully touching each other, using their trunk, tusks, tail, and even their entire body."
