A British Soldier Has Died After Being Struck By A Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicle During Training

A British soldier has been killed during routine training exercises on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire after being hit by an armoured vehicle.

Police confirmed that emergency services were called to a stretch of the plain just west of Tidworth at approximately 10.45am on Tuesday after it was reported that a member of the armed forces had been involved in a collision.


The British soldier that was killed was a serving member of the 5th Battalion The Rifles, he was on foot when he was struck by the Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicle.



The soldier, a 26-year-old man, suffered severe head injuries after being hit by the armoured vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene, a spokesperson for the force said.


Wiltshire Police said that they are leading the investigation and working alongside the British Army and the Health and Safety Executive.
